DALWHINNIE

DALWHINNIE

A more moderate highland dram is Dalwhinnie. Nutty, malty, sweet and gently fruity. Once again the older examples are generally the best. There are some terrific aged official bottlings at 29 and 36 years of age along with some brilliant older 1960s casks from the SMWS. These are big, bold, true old style highland drams with a more medicinal edge about them. There aren't too many other official exxamples but most of the distillery releases have been very good and some bottlings by G&M, Cadenhead and the SMWS are also terrific variations on the official releases.
